IWASEDAN 2008
International Workshop and Symposium for Environmental Design&Architecture in Nagoya (Japan)
Many of the developed countries are facing reduction in population, and the degree of it varies on each country. The figure is decreasing steadily in many countries but some are experiencing a rapid fall in population number which is in resulting into a seriuos aging society. In either case however, there is a need in constructing a new urban model that differs from the ones designed in early modern times where they premised an urban expansion. In this studio, we try to propose a hypothetical model of Shrinking City based on the site of multifamily housing built in 1960s and 70s in Nagoya.
