CNOOC Corporate Headquarters - Shanghai [Competition, 2007]
Located between on the shore of the Suzhou Creek, near the Hongqiao International Airport, the Shanghai International Business Park is given a strong and unique identity. The buildings form a rim around a large courtyard. In this way urban influences like noise are kept out and the inner landscaped courtyard is protected.
The building describes a sculpture of individual buildings, cut off from the bodies, and by a band at the base connected. It is a landscape by its sharp edges outward boundaries and by its softness opens inwards. The band at the base connects the headquarters of the CNOOC, an office building and a five-star hotel together. All so different functions blur into a single complex.
